Un llibre peculiar i ambigu El pròleg diu "presentació novel·lesca" i "llibre d'aventures"... d'això res...

This feels a little lower quality than the other edition, mainly because of the paper and binding - but if it is all you can find it still contains the most amazing story of an 18th century Catalonian hero. The author gives an in depth appraisal of the social and urban background to the invention and creation of the worlds first successful submarine, which he then goes on to describe in detail. Successful in that it dived and surfaced as required, it was capable of steering and propulsion and didn't kill it's occupants. A great book if you are interested in adventure, history, travel or just reading about genius.

A must-read for city planners, people interested in the history of planning, people interested in the history of cities, 19th-century utopian-social-revolutionary thought, Barcelona, and of course, SUBMARINES SUBMARINES SUBMARINES! If you visit Barcelona you can seek out at least 3 monuments or replicas of Monturiol's submarines. The author goes a little overboard at times repeating himself about Monturiol's idealism and such, but all-in-all an engaging and fascinating read.
