This... was a very interesting book! I loved the time travel aspect of it- I've always been intrigued by time travel, even though I know it isn't a reality- and with the mystery intertwined... very cool. :) I enjoyed it very much. Highly recommended, but just a warning- time travel is not really real (as far as I know), so don't let this book convince you. lol

I read the original fout of this series as a kid and now am reading these 4 later volumes as an adult having picked them up for my son. I really enjoyed the fantasy/sci-fi elements of time travel in this volume. it added to the fun and intrigue. As always I appreciate the way that Peretti can weave a story that is for kids, yet has so many twists and always takes you back to some biblical principle.

Frank E. Peretti is still my go to example of how 'Christian literature' doesn't have to be awful, and it was lovely to revisit this book from my childhood. This is an interesting take on the idea of ghosts, and while I'm honestly pretty sure the science isn't quite right, it doesn't take away from the enjoyment of the tale. I read this book in one sitting the first time I read it, unable to put it down, and it still has a pretty strong story all these years later.

Probably the weakest of the Cooper Kids books that I've read. It's about temporal disturbances, and time travel. The other books all seem possible in some way, this book was too out there.

Still good but missing that one character. Also. I'm so confused as to when these stories take place. Hmmm.

What a fun children's series! Mystery, time travel, and maintaining Christian values! I devoured this one afternoon on a snow day.

Only finished it to see how they were going to solve the problem. WARNING: If you are going to read this aloud to your children, there are TONS of "flashbacks?". It was hard to keep up with and the plotline was horrible.

The Cooper family and a few other kids and grown-ups go on a camping trip to relax from their hard work that they've been doing and they hear the legend of Annie Murphy in the hills and if you camp on the grave of Annie Murphy you'll die the next morning. So, while they were sleeping, one of them sees what looks to be Annie Murphy's shadow. The next morning, the kids get permission from their Dad to go out in the canyon valley to check things out, but when they entered the valley, they actually entered a time vortex to the time of the case of Annie Murphy. They have to find all the sculptures that Annie Murphy made to tell her story of what happened to her because she was accused of shooting from her bedroom her husband to get his mine. The truth was that it was the lawyer had shot Mr. Murphy from her bedroom to make it look like she shot the bullet so that he could get the gold mine. In the end, the kids escape thru the graveyard when the time vortex was closing. I liked the book because it was a western and took place in the past.

This story takes place in the past and present where the Coopers get seperated from their Dad (Dr Cooper) from the present to the past while following Annie. They get caught up in the situation of the possibility of never seeing each other again. They think Annie is innocent of killing her husband even though she loved him. The sheriff and the judge wanted Cyrus Murphy's gold mine. They killed him and blamed it on Annie and since that Annie can't read and write, she sculpted her story because she was an excellent sculpture. In the end, when the judge was chasing the kids and ended up in the cemetary at the same time when the sheriff was there and going to shoot Dr. Cooper, Annie jumped out from behind a rock and touched the kids in the past and it took them to the present. Overall, I thought this book was a classic western time travel story. I enjoyed reading it and would recommend it to any 11 year old boy to read.

I reread this book before passing it on. I remember reading this book for the first time that I felt the author was stretching the bounds of science in using a gravitational flux explanation for time travel. I'm still not convinced all these years later that it's a solid explanation for the plot. Other than that, the plot is fairly well written though there are a few cases where I wondered if the author was just trying to fill pages to get the book to length since some ideas are repeated, but overall, the story held my interest and kept me reading.

This was definitely one of my favorites. Peretti's incorporation of archaeology, Christianity, and fictional changes in reality send characters back in time to a small village. From the past and the present, the Coopers must figure out the mystery of Annie Murphy's appearance - and get everyone to the same side of time. The plot is always tense, the development interesting, and the process of discovery unique. It has been a while since I have read these books, but I have the feeling they will still hold to the high expectations I recall of them.

I picked this book up as a "filler." At first, I thought it was going to be just another cheesy kid's book. However, I found the way Peretti dealt with the whole time travel thing was very interesting. Two kids, along with their Dad and his friend (both scientists), go to check out reported sightings of a ghost. There, they find that the time, space, and gravity that is normal is wacked out. They do find the "ghost," and with it, adventure and even somewhat of a mystery.

Must have read the second set of four volumes in the late 90s on my own since our daughters were getting into Harry Potter. I remember them, though, as fun children's adventures taking intriguing (and sometimes obscure) biblical stories and archaeological finds and weaving them into a solid Christian fantasy. I'm pretty sure they'd make for good, clean reading for children and middle graders today as well.

What a story-ride! Frank Peretti used his best imagination to create a plots as interesting as one of his adult fiction novels. The story begins with kids telling ghost stories at night in an old cemetery. Then enters a scientist who thinks there is more truth to the ghost than not. He calls in his friend, Biblical archiolgist Dr. Cooper. Of course Jake and Lila come along. They find out more about the earth than they expected.

I really liked this one growing up, although I'm not a big fan of the genre in general. Maybe because as a kid I took it too seriously and wasn't sure what I believed about reality. Could stuff like this happen? It made me scared, and not in a delicious, fun way. I dunno. Pretty good writing, though.

This book will totally freak you out. Legend said that Annie and her husband went out to hunt for gold. When her husband was murdered, she was blamed or doing it out of greed. The morning of her hanging, she was missing, not years later, people claim to see you ghost walking around. The Coopers must solve the mystery of Annie Murphy.

In the top-three of the series. Amazing sci-fi twist that beautifully illustrates the sovereignty of God. This one would make a fascinating movie.

I did a book report on this book in 4th grade and remember being OBSESSED with it. It’s a great middle grade read without being too easy or too mature.

Time travel, dimensions in time... this mystery was slightly scary as the "ghost story" played out. But the mystery was good and well wrapped up.

There are quite a few books from The Cooper Kids Adventures that are my favorites. This one, even though not one of my favorites, was quick and interesting read. I think my kids will like it.
