4 ★'s I was excited to get Ricki and Jaime's story after reading about them in the first book. Unfortunately, I had an idea what it was that they were involved in. I'm still not sure how I feel about it. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely a noble cause, it just took over the whole book...and the romance and that's my issue. Jaime has been friends with Xanthe (the heroine in the first book) since they were kids and has felt like her family was more family to her than her own. She couldn't wait to graduate school and save up enough money to move to Amsterdam. And as she gets older and more involved in the "business", she finds out things and meets other people...mainly Ricki. Actually, they are mostly phone friends until she moves there. They've become quite close until just a few weeks before the big move when Ricki starts acting weirder than normal. I was really taken aback by how much I liked this aspect of Ricki...I was not expecting it at all. In fact, I was expecting the exact opposite. I loved all his was sooo endearing, that is with the exceptions of a few times when he totally blew things out of proportion but drama, ya gotta love it. One thing I love about this author is her ability to write such a sweet, albeit, intense loving relationship. Yes, at times, it seems a bit cheesy and over the top but I really love the emotional aspect and heck, the sex's not too bad either! ;)There's the prerequisite big drama at the end ~ehh~ but I absolutely loved what Ricki did after, well, one aspect not the other two blown up dramas! We get some background on Rex, Ronen and Deo as well and updates on things going on with their lives. I was a little unhappy about Ronen's as I'm hoping to get his book...? It's hard to tell because the author took us back to the past with this one and at the end, we're brought back to the present so maybe she'll go back again and give us his. But we do get a bit of info on Deo and who he will be with. I'm not exactly crazy about him but I'm hoping the author will surprise us again. One thing I am hoping for is some more drama between Deo and Odessa! ;) Deo's book is Ten Thousand Truths and there's no release date at this time.(Prior to review...)Exclusive, unedited excerpt from Ten Thousand Lies.“Jaime.”Either I was drunk off one and a half beers, or I had just auditory-fantasized my ass into a hallucination. Turning toward the sound of that deep, soft, British voice, it was as though some higher being had listened to my frantic secret prayers, and plopped the motherfucker right there in front of me.Across the table, Lilla drew in a sharp breath.“Ricki?” I gasped. His strange eyes were glowing in the dim light, his jaw clenching as he looked at Shaun, then back to me. “I need to talk to you.”Shaun’s arm tightened around my shoulders. “She doesn’t want to talk to you.”Indignation flared up in me.“How the hell would you know?” I snapped.“But—”I made to slide out of the booth and Shaun grabbed my arm. “Wait—”Fast as a flash of lightning, Ricki was over the table and had Shaun shoved back into the wall behind the booth. “Fucking touch her like that again—touch any woman like that again—and I’ll fucking end you.”“Wh-what?” Shaun spluttered.“Women aren’t on this planet to appease men, you fucking douche,” Ricki snarled. “She made the decision to get the fuck up and you just physically tried to stop her.”Shaun’s jaw dropped as Ricki straightened up.“Misogynistic motherfucker. If you can’t get her to stay with your words, then you never had any influence on her anyway.”Holy shit. That was the hottest thing I’d ever witnessed.Ricki turned his attention back on me. The fury in his eyes was a complete contrast to the soft tone of his voice. “Will you talk with me, Jaime?”Feigning indifference, I shrugged and grabbed my bag. “Sure.”It was then that I noticed Ronen standing behind and to the right of Ricki. He gave me a huge, shit-eating grin and dropped into the spot next to Lilla.“Hi,” said Ronen to Lilla. “I’m Ronen.”Heart pounding, I got to my feet and headed for the exit. Ronen and Lilla would let Xanthe know where I’d gone off to. I didn’t spare Shaun a second glance.Outside, I dug around in my bag for my pack of smokes. I’d bought them for a night out drinking with my girls. Fishing one out, Ricki was there with his lighter, sparking it up for me.Taking a pull off the cigarette, I exhaled. “Is everything okay at the shop?”Ricki’s eyes narrowed on me. “The shop’s fine.”My heartbeat increased. “Then why’d you hunt me down on my night out?”Instead of answering, he fished his own smoke out and lit it. “Will you walk with me?”“Not until you tell me what’s up.”His nostrils flared and his jaw bunched beneath his beard. “I want to talk to you away from this place. Please?”Huffing, I grumbled, “Lead the way, then.”Unsure of where we were going, I followed him down the street. We made our way in silence, and it was so uncomfortable I wanted to scream at him. Coming to a bridge, we made it about halfway across before he stopped and flicked his cigarette over the side.“Jaime?”“Are you finally going to tell me what this is all about?”“I’m just so bloody nervous,” he said. “Please, just…I…”Taking pity on him, I shut my mouth and leaned against the railing.“Is that what you want?” he asked me quietly. “Would you rather be with other guys?”“Really, you dragged me ten minutes away from the bar to ask me that?”“No. But fuck, Jaime! Five days ago you were kissing me!”“That didn’t end so well, if I recall,” I replied scathingly.“I’ve wanted to tell you I was sorry. So, so sorry,” he said, his voice cracking. “Jaime, you are the second woman I’ve ever been with, and…that was the second time I’ve ever had sex.”Come again?“When I was sixteen, my father paid a bloody hooker to fuck me. It was one of the scariest, grossest moments of my fucking life. She was terrified of my father, I was fucking terrified of him, and…it was messy and fast, and humiliating. It was so bad, I couldn’t bring myself to be like that with anyone again. Until the other night with you, I hadn’t been with anyone in more than ten fucking years.”“Ricki…” I whispered, my heart bleeding for him. No fucking wonder…“The difference between the first time, and last time, was more than anything, I wanted it. I wanted to be with you like that. Just you. I’d been dreaming of what it would be like to have sex with you, and I was—I was embarrassed that I was fucking shite, and then you laughed…”His pain wrapped around my chest and squeezed. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, looking dejected and broken. It took everything I had not to burst into tears for him.“When you laughed at me, I don’t know…I just snapped.”“I was happy, Ricki,” I whispered. “I was just happy to finally be with you. I’d been dreaming of it, too.”Oh, God. His fucking lip was quivering. There was no holding back my tears now.“I’m so sorry, Jaime. I’ve hated myself every waking moment for what I did. When you came back to the shop, I had hoped that maybe you would change your mind about second chances. Even though it was killing me seeing how much you hated me, I think it would kill me more if you weren’t there at all.”“Damn it,” I sniffed, wiping the tears off my face.Slowly, his gaze went from my feet to my face, his strange eyes burning into mine. “I don’t think I can handle you going out with other guys. I—”“Stop,” I whispered, taking the steps toward him to close the distance.“I can’t,” he replied. Reaching out, he took my hands in his. Large, hot, and slightly damp, they enfolded mine completely. “You’re my Doll Face. You’re all I fucking think about. I’m in love with you, and I’ve fucking made myself ill over this. I can’t fucking go another day…please, please give me another chance.”

Despite my whole life being coated in lies, what I felt for Jaime, who I was when I pressed her hand to my knee, THAT was genuine. That was the person I was at my core, and she was the only one who could make me feel that way .... Insert dreamy sigh ... reading that quote by Ricki, so many weeks after originally reading this story still makes my heart stutter... the intensity of all that was Ricki was all encompassing... OK, you may be asking why I'm just starting off with this review talking about one character. Well let me tell you, WHEN you read TTL, you will understand. And when you feel, what he feels, for his doll face... well he will capture your heart even more. Promise. Ok, back to it... Did you read Ten Thousand Words ? If not, you need to. Right now. Although TTL is focused on a different couple; you will enjoy this story so much more if you read that one first. Plus, this one starts off where TTW ended.. Oliver ( from TTW) is ready to spend his life with Xanthe( TTW), but before he can.. the crew has to bring him into the fold of the family. Ricki is the one doing the explaining--- who they really are and what they do. In doing that... we go back in time to when Ricki met his Jaime.... And what a story it was!!! We learned so much about Ricki and how he became the man he is today.. a man that is part of an organization of vigilantes that help save lost souls and make those people that brought them harm pay.. and pay dearly. Each member has a role they play in the organization... but they also have their regular lives..... lives where they live, love, and feel uncertainty. Ricki's been a part of this life for a while before he meets Jaime, and she was just the balm to his soul that he had been missing all of his life. Even if he was afraid , at times, to take what she was offering... And sweet Jaime.... I loved this woman. Such a layered character that really just wanted to feel like she belonged somewhere... like someone wanted her around. She grew up feeling like she was just a burden to her mom.. One bright spot for her was her bro-dawg Xanthe. But Xanthe lived in another country so it was just mostly phone calls and videos. Through Xanthe, she met this amazing man Ricki. But she never saw him.. only got to listen to his sexy voice. She knew, one day, she'd finally get to meet the man with the beautiful voice in person. And when she finally saved up enough money to leave not only her home town, but the whole country behind so she could be with her bff and start living her life... she began to blossom. But Ricki is a complicated man... and for someone so strong, he felt a weakness when it came to Jaime. Could he be the man he needed to be and the man he wanted to be at the same time?I loved this! I was so wrapped up in it.. I'd go from having a huge grin on my face As long as you twon don't start slamming your clams together"hilarious Aunt Ellen anger, when Ricki would make a douch move, but then to definilty heating up when Ricki put his significant talents to use... From his mouth spread the most deliciously thick, erotic sensations through me. My eyes rolled and my head dropped back against the door.... Ricki treating our girl Jaime right... ;) Now I will say... there were some pretty brutal moments in the beginning.... but necessary. The situation that occurred.. it was the catalyst that caused Rickie, and also his friends, to become part of something bigger. Kelli Jean didn't sugar coat anything about the situation and admit to cringing a bit. It was so real feeling... I felt like I was there. I remember at one point even shutting my eyes for a second. But I loved it. I knew this was not going to be just a typical boy meets girl and they live happily ever after. Kelli Jeans characters are so unique so there could never be anything normal about her characters relationships. Even in the harshest moments, her stories are like a breath of fresh air. I feel confident in saying that Kelli Jean is not a "cookie cutter" writer. When you open one of her books, you can be assured that you are going to get something different. She's not going to pull you along on trope that you've seen time and time again. And honestly, that's one of the things I love most about her stories. I've not read anything by her yet that didn't 100% suck me in , take me for a long ride, and make me want to do it all over again. When you are ready for something different, and your tired of reading the same thing and over, I implore you to check her out. You won't be disappointed.

5 Blood Hell Stars!*Thankful to have had the opportunity to receive arc provided generously per author*I have no idea what it is about the writing of Kelli Jean, but it so unique that it just pulls me in and makes reality fall away. This series, this book in particular is dangerously dark, a bit macabre, yet light at the same time. I know that seems impossible but this is what Kelli Jean does. She creates a story with dire circumstances that are dangerous and gory and she adds extraordinary characters who bring wit, humor and a beautiful human element to the terror.Book 2 in the Ten Thousand stories starts at the end of Ten Thousand Words. For those who have had the pleasure of meeting Xanthe and Oliver Fairfax, then you are aware of their epic love but to truly make it, Ollie must learn what it means to be in the family. So with the inclusion of Ollie into Xanthe’s life it is time to go back years before to a lifetime of darkness, to those many actions shrouded in mystery. This is where it starts to develop the connections of strangers whose lives will be forever connected. Finally we get the real story, and it is FABULOUS!While book one held one of my favorite fast and fierce love stories, I found myself so much more in love with the story of Rikki and Jaime. Ten Thousand Lies is about Rikki Conklin, and he is not who he seems. This big, burly, beautiful soul may be able to kill a man with his bare hands but to find the strength to reach out to the one woman he yearns for…he is terrified. He is a man of pure heart and soul and his involvement in the harsh underworld justice system for human trafficking has left him solitary. He has close friends that are true family, and even with the loss and brutality he has known, his heart remains good.Jaime is the one person who Rikki feels the pull with. Perhaps she is a safe bet housed in another country. Their relationship is built solely on weekly chats over the years. They have unique bond. With Jaime longing for a true family and Rikki able to be a part of it seems as if they are a sure thing. Both are wanting and deserving of a beautiful life, but at what cost? Can Rikki let go of the past and hold onto Jaime for a future? Will Jaime finally fight for more than just the quick pleasure she has ever known? Perhaps the mysterious dangerous life of Rikki is too much for Jaime to understand or too much for her to survive! Another amazing story by this author! She continues to develop the best ensemble cast that are quirky, sexy and mostly fun. There isn’t one character to find fault with. I believe I fell even more in love with Xanthe and her bad ass ways! Ollie is in for some kind of future. Ronan…Lilla…Rex…no one better to have your back. Aunt Ellen is beyond amazing with her blunt “say it like it is” tone and constant weed provisions. Rikki and Jaime, the perfect couple with the best love journey! What an amazing feat it is for Jaime to school her big “bad guy” in all things pleasure. Ah, the best for last…DEO…I cannot wait for this man’s story! I know Kelli Jean is going to bring the epic level to the highest degree!

5 SEXY RICKI STARS!We were nightmares of nightmares..."Once again Kelli Jean managed to steal my heart with her brilliant writing and story telling. Ten Thousand Lies continues a few months after the events that occurred in Ten Thousand Words. This time the story is told from mostly Ricki Conklin's POV and we get to witness the dark and gritty past he went through before he met and married Jaime.Ricki is welcoming Ollie into the family and telling him the ropes of a gritty organization that everyone is a part of. This is where the mystery and the demons come out to play. While I loved Ollie and Xanthe's intense and wondrous epic love, Ricki and Jaime's love was by far my favorite. They were two opposite souls who got to know each other over years of phone conversations and when the time came to finally meet in person, you can say things were a bit awkward. A shift happened in Ricki and for once in his life he couldn't explain the things he was feeling for the beautiful and spunky, Jaime. "Something about Jaime made something inside me want to let go of everything, even if it was for the short amount of time I got to touch her in simplicity."All the characters I came to love in Ten Thousand Words, Kelli Jean made me fall all over again. As crazy as it sounds being that this is book 2, I feel like I truly got to meet them and get their back story in Ten Thousand Lies. One thing I will give away is that they're one wacky and dysfunctional family full of so much love, and in my opinion I recommend reading this series in order. This book is dark, raw, gritty, and real. There will be some triggers for sensitive readers, so I say proceed with caution but live a little. This world is filled with evil. Reading about it won't change or hide what people refuse to see and Ricki won't bite, I promise you.Beards, tattoos, love, angst, tears, suffering, darkness, laughs and so much more are intertwined into this story. If you haven't read a book by Kelli Jean, you must! She's amazing and her mind is of pure genius. Now, I sit back and wait for the beautiful Viking Maori's story.... Deo! <3*AN ARC WAS KINDLY PROVIDED BY THE AUTHOR IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW.*

***** Another 5-star read by Kelli Jean! *****I absolutely loved Ten Thousand Words (book 1 in this series) and Ten Thousand Lies is even more intense! I beta read this book and I'm good friends with Kelli Jean but that is mostly because I truly respect her as a person and ABSOLUTELY ADORE her writing. She has a way with words and characters that give you no choice but to be transported into her worlds and live her stories. I love how real and genuine her characters feel. And even when her plots go outside of the box the events are still believable and somehow relatable. I also think it's awesome that this series (especially with this book) has delved into the dark and violent underworld of human trafficking but, amazingly enough, Kelli has still been able to maintain her usual humor and unique style. This woman never ceases to amaze me. Ricki and Jaime's story is beautiful. They both are fighting their own battles, working through their own fears, but somehow they're able to find each other and set each other free. I'm so happy that Ricki wasn't the typical alpha that liked to kill and dominate everyone around him. It was refreshing that he was insecure and even timid in his own way. And Jaime has a special place in my heart. Especially because I know her muse and I have to say Kelli did an awesome job with making this character a fairytale version of our Bro Dawg.If you have never tried a book by Kelli Jean you should go out and TRY ONE! ANY ONE! Because they're all amazing and this one is no exception! I can't wait for the next book in this series either! Oh! And in case you need more convincing... this is RICKI:

“There will come a day when it all falls into place for you. She’s out there, and she’s going to show you what it means when sex and love are one in the same.”Beards, tattoos, anti-hero heroes, dark past, hot guys and girls, and a mysterious shadow organization who we briefly got introduced to in Book 1, Ten Thousand Words, in Xanthe & Ollie's story. Haven't read it? That's relatively ok, you can start with this one. Although the story involves Xanthe's group of friends, for the most part, the story takes place back in time. In my preference I would read the first book but if you must go ahead and start this one.In book 2 in Ten Thousand series we are given back story how Jaime and Ricki Conklin met. We see the evolution and growth of 2 completely messed up people. Two people who are just trying to do good in the world and at the same time find their place in it.“No matter who I am, no matter what I do, Jaime…I’m always your man.”I loved it even more so because while we were introduced to secondary characters in Xanthe's story we didn't' find out what they were TRULY all about.... and boy do we get that. We definitely learn the group dynamics and what each person means to one another. They are full on dysfunctional but full on family!I've truly fallen in love with poor Ricki who has had hard time chasing his childhood nightmares away. Nightmares that prevent him embracing happiness with a better half, which just happens to be Jaime. Jaime was a total trouble maker and the mouth on her! WOW! While not totally emotional stable herself she was/is perfect fit to even out Jamie. Bringing him back into the light and at the same time taking herself there as well. However, be prepared this book takes on a bit heavier and darker mood. There might be some triggers for sensitive readers but in my opinion life is full of triggers and rarely without HEA endings. So beware but don't get frightened... if anything being in Ricki's bearded/tatted mind will make you feel all quivery in the right places lol.By the time the book finished I was sobbing away and getting weird looks on the train... but that's OK all is perfect in the wonderful vigilante world of Amsterdam. Now off I go and wait for book 3, Deo's story! • Follow This Review on KRIS & VIK BOOK THERAPY CAFE •• Follow KRIS & VIK BOOK THERAPY CAFE on Facebook •

**FULL REVIEW**I always love reading Jean's books. She has a fresh, intelligent spin on her words that keeps my mind intrigued and my heart invested. This book was no different. In this story we really get to know Jaime and Ricki. I don't know how they are in real life, but this fictional rendition of them is definitely swoon-worthy. Despite the circumstances surrounding them and the darkness they face, the beacon of light within them makes the rest bearable.I can't give more than that, except this: Jean has written another enticing world where not everything is black and white. It's gritty, bloody, and in a lot of ways...raw. Her characters are complicated and her story lines complex in the layers they present. I want to live in her world, and each time I open the cover to her books, I get that opportunity.**5 For Your Protection, Stars**

A couple of months ago I’ve read the first book in ‘the Ten Thousand series’ by Kelli Jean. She was a new author for me, and I’ve really enjoyed reading the book. Ten Thousand Lies is the second book in the story and tells the story of Ricki and Jami. The first book – Then Thousand Words – was a sweet book, but it hinted at the darker subjects coming in the future books. And darker it is.. The romance is still sweet, but the what Ricki and his friends encounter on a regular basis is anything but sweet.“It was time to face the unknown. The future before me stretched out into black nothingness. I had no idea what I was supposed to do. My entire life before now had been controlled.”Ricki is born into a dysfunctional family; his father is a British crime lord without any morals who deals with the scum of the earth, his mother is a sweet woman, broken down by her despicable husband. Although she’s obedient in every way, she has taught her sons to be good, to think for themselves, not to become monsters like their father. And it has worked; while Ricki acts how his father wants him to on the surface, beneath the surface he makes different choices, very dangerous choices. When he and his friends rescue a young boy from his father’s clutches, Ricki is forced to leave the life he knows behind. He moves to Amsterdam and joins an organization that rescues abused victims and makes their torturers pay. Over the years he forms a telephone-call friendship with Jaime, one of Xanthe’s best friends (Xanthe is the heroine of Ten Thousand Words). Meeting her in real life changes everything.“Over time, I had grown to love Jaime. It was hard not to. She was strong, freakishly independent—which I knew was from a lifetime of having only herself to rely upon—with a heart hell-bent on saving the world.”Though Jaime has grown up in a far more normal family, she didn’t have a close relationship with her mother. When she’s just turned 18, Jaime is forced to move out her mother’s house and to look after herself. She starts working and saving her money to be able to move to Amsterdam, to be closer to her best friend Xanthe. Throughout her years living on her own in England Jaime grows close with Ricki, a guy she has never met in person. Although she lives her life, Ricki is a constant and they tell each other everything on the phone. Seeing him after a radio silence for real in Amsterdam, she tries to keep her feelings under control (and of course fails big time..).“It’s nice to…well, I guess meet is a little strong of a word for this situation,” I stated, feeling like the biggest nerd on the planet. Ricki chuckled, and something tingled between my legs. Holy shit. His voice was audible sex. The British accent did funny things to me, too.”Although they haven’t met in person, the telephone conversations between Ricki and Jaime are getting more and more personal as the years go by. When Jaime finally arrives in Amsterdam the two of them aren’t on speaking terms, but it doesn’t take long before they are talking again. Given the chemistry between the couple the relation slowly progresses into a physical one. To Jaime’s surprise Ricki is very sweet with her, but given his past it isn’t a surprise. When Ricki finally understands what Jaime needs (Thank you Xanthe) things get hot and explosive.Ten Thousand Lies is the second book in ‘the Ten Thousand series’. In the first book of the series – with Xanthe and Ollie as the main couple – Ricki and Jaime are already a committed, loving couple, so this books gives us the story how they get together and make their relationship work. It was a little weird to see Xanthe not with Ollie, but with Deo for a large part of this book. As the author already said the books in the series will get darker, and they did it a bit. Through the eyes of Ricki and his friends you get a brutal picture of human trafficking and the nasty players involved.“You feel so good,” he murmured against my lips. “I can’t ever get enough of you. I’ll never have enough…” Neither would I. I was lost to this man, had been from the second I heard his voice.”I’ve enjoyed reading Ten Thousand Lies, and I can’t wait for the future books in this series. I give the story of Ricki and Jaime 4 stars.Check out my blog:

More awesomeness in the follow up to Ten Thousand Words. More suspense in this one, which I love. I don't want to give too much away but, I love the hero in this one more than in TTW. Yes, I'm shocked about this too, since I loved Oliver.

4.5 StarsDespite my whole life being a tapestry of ten thousand lies, what I felt for Jaime, who I was when I’d pressed her hand to my knew, that was genuine. That was the person I was at my core, and she was the only one who could make me feel that way.I read Ten Thousand Words earlier this year and hard core loved it, I was so taken by Xanthe and Oliver’s love story and I fell in love with this crazy cast of characters, especially Ricki and Jaime. There were so many secrets and darker themes hinted at in that book so not only was I excited to see that we’d be getting Ricki and Jaime’s story but I was also looking forward to getting answers to many of the questions that had been swirling in my mind since finishing the first book. While much of this book is set in the past, before the events of Ten Thousand Words take place, I would still recommend reading the series in order to fully appreciate these characters and what they are up to. This book surprised me, explained so much and reminded me why I fell in love with this crazy crew in the first place. If you are a fan of this series, you don’t want to miss this one.Jaime made something inside me want to let go of everything even if it was for the short about of time I got to touch her in simplicity. She filled me with something I had forgotten existed. Hope.If you read the first book then you know that Ricki, Ronen and Rex were involved with some very secret and dangerous business but it was only hinted at what it actually was and what exactly their involvement was. This book starts shortly after Ten Thousand Words ends with Ollie informing the guys of his intentions to marry Xanthe (which was as close to asking permission as he was going to get!) so they all agree that it’s time to tell him everything so he knows what he’s getting into. From there we are taken back fourteen years to when this all started and everything is laid out for us, from Ricki’s past to how he and Ronen got hooked up with Rex and Xanthe and Aunt Ellen. And finally we see how it all started between Ricki and Jaime. I loved seeing how they met and all the ups and downs that happened over the course of their relationship, leading up to them becoming the couple that we knew and loved from the first book. This adorable and turbulent love story was contrasted by the darker elements of the Locals and what Ricki and crew did. It was a noble cause and understanding the backstories that motivated them to go down this path was very enlightening. There’s definitely a lot of messed up stuff that goes down in this book and despite the nobility of the cause, certain things may cause some readers to be uncomfortable but I thought that the author did a good job of balancing the heavy stuff with either the humor or quirkiness of the characters and I found it didn’t bother me. In fact, I was cheering them on even in some of the more gruesome moments. While I don’t think anything can compare to the epicness of Xanthe and Oliver’s love story, I think that Ricki and Jaime’s was still a special one nonetheless. They both were damaged in their own way but they were able to find a connection together and I think that they complemented one another so well. It was adorable seeing their sweet beginning and how that progressed. I have to admit, I was completely not expecting Ricki to be so, I guess inexperienced would be the best word. He was so innocent and vulnerable in a way that totally caught me off guard but I loved it and it only served to endear him to me even more. I also loved seeing the transformation of Jaime from who she was when she was just seventeen to the woman we met in Ten Thousand Lies. It was definitely a journey and she changed and grew so much over the course of the story. I loved getting to see more of Deo too and I am really looking forward to his book! I also loved seeing a little more of Oliver and Xanthe at the end there. It was great spending time with all of these characters again. I still think Ten Thousand Words is my favorite in the series so far, but I really enjoyed this book and I can’t wait until the next book comes out so that I can return to Amsterdam and visit once more with this crazy and unique cast of characters! “How did I ever exist without you?”Those China blues widened and grew dark. “It was just that, Ricki. Existing. I’ve never felt more alive than I do when I’m with you.”

Ten Thousand Lies begins with Ricki reliving how it all started. Ricki didn't have a very good life with his father living the life that he did. It all comes to head when he has to do the unthinkable in order to get out. Ricki has to lead and different life now and that is when he meets Jaime. Jaime is unlike anyone else and Ricki is really drawn to her and vice versa but he doesn't know how to convey that. Jaime on the other hand doesn't understand why Ricki pushes her away but finally the truth comes to light more ways than one. Ricki will do anything to make Jaime his and there will be some obstacles that they have to get over to get the relationship that they both need and want.I loved this book. Ten Thousand Lies picks up where the previous book leaves off. I was not disappointed with this book. I didn't want to put it down at all and I didn't want it to end. I loved that we got how Ricki and Jaime met. I couldn't see Ricki with anyone other than Jaime because she totally completes him and she is his light. I am hoping that there is more to this series!!!

**ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review**There are not enough words to profess how amazing and unforgettable this book is! In this follow up to Ten Thousand Words (which must be read first in order to truly follow the story and events), we get Ricki and Jaime's story and it is a doozy! It is emotional, exciting, mysterious, intense, and gritty but also beautiful, fun, and sexy. Kelli Jean is a masterful storyteller, bringing the reader into the underground world of human trafficking and those that rescue and avenge. She weaves a tale that will leave the reader completely in awe. There is some violence, yes but there is also much love! At the heart Ten Thousand Lies is a love story that will leave the reader swooning and wanting more. Looking for your next book boyfriend? Ricki will most definitely fill that slot in spades. Grab this book and bump it to the top of your TBR immediately!!!

Kelli Jean is an amazing storyteller. She has a way of creating worlds that you want to live in and writing characters that you either want to be or want to be with. This story took a hold of me from the beginning. I was immersed into this intriguing world that was both full of darkness and light. I appreciate this author's ability to make me feel deeply and yet still make me laugh all within a few pages. This is one of the most unique stories I've ever read. I have throughly enjoyed every story Kelli Jean has written. She is a favorite author of mine and I cannot wait to read everything else she writes. I highly recommend this book!

Wow!! Just WOW!!!! I am BLOWN AWAY....ok so first, Ten Thousand Lies is the second book in the series but it can also be a stand alone. That being said, you want to grab Ten Thousand Words first to get acquainted with the characters. Second, I'm not very good at posting reviews, in fact, I SUCK, but.....people need to know that this book is so different from most book that you read that it deserves to be voiced how AWESOME it is. It's a VERY INTENSE ride, dealing with a very serious situation but has a beautiful love story to tame it. I don't want to give anything away, just BUY BUY BUY THIS!!! Can I just say, Ricki Conklin is MINE!! And I'm NOT sharing him. Happy Reading!!

Following on from Ten thousand words you read the back story to what it is that Ronen,ReX and Ricki actually do and how Ricki and Jamie actually met.The love story that you expect to happen between Ricki and Jamie doesn't happen at all but is filled with twists and turns that you want to slap someone for. There was a darker side to this read but it wasn't uncomfortable to read for myself and added more depth to the characters and also the story.Kelli Jean has always been my go to author and TTL shows her diversity in writing with this novel from previous work.I absolutely loved it and give it a full 5*s

Ten Thousand Lies by Kelli Jean is the second book in the Ten Thousand series. Let me tell you, I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! Ricki and Jamie's story is my favorite story of the year! I didn't think it could get better after Xanthe and Ollie's book but Kelli just upped her game and gave us a killer book. It started off right where it left off in Ten Thousand Words which was great because it was a seamless transition from the first book to this one. Ricki Conklin is not who he seems, the lie's are plentiful but all is revealed through out this book. Jamie and Ricki are the greatest couple, they balance each other while still driving one another crazy. I hope that anyone reading this will pick up this series and fall in love with it as much as I do.

Loved this story! It had all my favorite characters from Ten Thousand Words plus we got some more background information on the Locals , Jaime and Ricki! I fell in love with Jaime and Ricki's story. This book give you all of the feels.... love, grief, pain, laughter, suspense. I ate it up! Kelli Jean has a way of making the characters relatable, funny, awkward, tortured and loveable that keeps me falling in love with her characters.

It's taken me quite a few days to figure out what I want to say, actually it's been a week since I read this book. But I'm still not sure what I want to say.I thought this book was going to give us a different story. I figured it would have some of the elements that it did based on what happened in the first book, Ten Thousand Words, but I wasn't sure exactly. This series is basically a series of stand-alones. But they are all intertwined with each other. There is such a powerful meaning and movement in these books, each one is a piece of this giant puzzle that Kelli Jean has created. I knew I liked Ricki in the first book. I didn't know a lot about him, only what we were allowed to know at the time, but I knew I wanted to see his and Jamie's story. But I fell completely in love with him. He is just so good. But then again, good isn't the right word. Not for what he does. I don't know how to explain it. He is a lost soul, how finds himself adrift for many years. His soul tarnished due to his line of work. But it is his heart that is important here. When he 'meets' Jamie, they're both lost. I say the word 'meet' loosely because they don't actually meet in person for a few years. When they finally get to see the person they've only imagined, things don't go so well. Due to his upbringing and circumstances in life, Ricki isn't good at the whole dating thing, at the whole socializing thing in general really. For so many years he was condition to be and do one thing, and now, even years later, he's struggling with who he is. Jamie, has felt adrift. She's always known that she belonged in Amsterdam. But circumstance kept her in the states. When Jamie and Ricki come together things are as they should be. They are the people they should be. Even if it's just for each other. Jamie and Ricki just are. Together. I fell in love with Kelli Jean's writing when I read NOLA's Own. And I fell in love with her idea for the Ten Thousand series in Ten Thousand Words. For Ten Thousand Lies I fell in love with her characters. Of course I already loved all the characters and am looking forward to seeing more of them as more stories and truths get unraveled. However, reading this book, getting to see how they are all connected. Seeing how they fit together though each one is so different, it's really amazing how Kelli Jean can pull that off. Kelli Jean is a phenomenal writer, she just knows how to pull words together in a way that has you hanging onto them. I'm so excited to see where she takes this series. I can't wait to know what happens in the future, and to know what happened in the past so I can better understand the characters and the complex world she's building.

At the end of Ten Thousand Words, I was excited to read Jamie and Ricki's story. I knew it would be interesting - given what we'd learned about them from Ollie's point of view, how could it not be? What I didn't expect is what Kelli Jean gave us. Both of these characters were layered in the way that you'd imagine, because that's just what Kelli does; she's skilled at building worlds and complex people, and as a reader, you can't help wanting to know them (even if, in this case, you might have reservations about exactly HOW you'd be a part of their lives!) There was, however, a beautiful vulnerability to Ricki that I could not have anticipated. Both the method of delivery and the execution of the story were fantastic. I loved every minute, even more than I loved Ollie and Xanthe, maybe even more than I loved Kenna and Phil in NOLA's Own.One thing I realized, as I was finishing this story, was how utterly mind-blowing it had been to tell Ten Thousand Words from the point of view of Oliver. We're lead into this world in the same way that Ollie is, and that was bloody brilliant. The more he knows, the more we discover as a reader. Even if I didn't adore Kelli Jean's worlds for themselves, I would be in awe of her storytelling skills. She's still learning and growing as a writer (aren't we all?), but the fact that she's capable of creating such engaging and dynamic tales already is just one reason why I will jump a the chance to read her work. Every time. Now, I'll be itching for more of the Locals until Ten Thousand Truths releases, and we finally learn about Deo and Opie. I can't wait.

“We were the nightmares of nightmares…”On the surface, Ricki Conklin is just an average bloke, a brilliant tattooist with his own shop.Below the surface, he’s a vigilante revenge-seeker, atoning for a past he fears will never set him free.Jaime is his everything, his foul-mouthed Dollface.Covered in ink from collarbone to feet, she’s a wild child after his heart.Set adrift, losing faith in herself and humanity, she’s broken down not by abuse, but by neglect. For years, she exists only so she can finally come home. This is the second book in the Ten Thousand series...First of all, it took me days to recover from this story. It took me longer to come up with the right words to describe the feels in the book. I still don't think they are the right ones and I don't know why...From the very beginning Kelli sucks you into this world full of characters you can reach out and touch. It picks up right where Ten Thousand Words ended. Ollie must learn the truth to be a part of this family. It goes back to where all of these characters meet in the terrible world of human trafficiking.Ricki is a unique man with a life that would scare most away. But not Jamie..she is a lost soul herself and looking for a connection to someone. The relationship starts and progresses with phone calls over a few years. Finally when they come face to face Ricki is mess. I love this about him! He can kill a man with his bare hands but when it comes to Jamie he is terrified. He wants nothing more than to be the man she deserves. She is the light he needs..his Dollface. The love that builds between these two people can be felt down to your own soul.As much as I loved Oliver and Xanthe's love story, I loved Ricki and Jamie's more..I didn't think it was possible. Plus, the rest of the family! Kelli just makes them so real. I want Aunt Ellen in my life!!! And we got more Deo in this book..I cannot wait till his story!

Kelli Jean has once again shown that she is a literary master with Ten Thousand Lies. I sat down and devoured it within a few hours because I could not put it down. I think my soul would have wept if I tried. It is beautiful, dark, gritty and intense. It’s the story of strangers meeting in horrific circumstances and forming a bond so tight they become family. It’s a story that shows that family isn’t always blood, that sometimes it’s a choice, a bond stronger than that which flows in our veins. And that can be a beautiful thing. She takes you to the seedy underbelly of human society but at the same time leads you out by hand. And oh what a hand it is that leads you out of the darkness. Ricki Conklin is a certified Grade-A badass. He’s tattooed, bearded sex on a stick but when he meets the woman that is the light to his darkness, his soft spot shows. Jaime is his perfect counterpart. She’s sexy, sassy and takes no crap. The chemistry between the two, wow...I think a few times my panties almost spontaneously combusted. But it’s not all heat, there’s some serious heart and story going on. She blended the heat, heart and story into an exquisitely crafted novel. I can’t wait for more.ARC received in exchange for an honest review. For more reviews, visit

4,5 stars!!I have read every book that Kelli Jean has released and I can not get enough! In the second story of the 'Ten Thousand' series, we delve deeper into the underbelly of society when we read the words that fall from the lips of tattoo artist Ricki Conklin. He wasn’t born as Richard Darcy Conklin. No, that name was ‘gifted’ to him when his world took a drastic turn one night.Jaime Hallowell has been on her own for years when she moves to Amsterdam to live with her best friend, Xanthe. Jaime has gotten to know Ricki the last few years, but they’ve never actually met. I love how independent and bad to the bone Jaime is. And while I’m sure I’d pee my pants if I met him on a dark street somewhere, I love how soft and insecure Ricki is around Jaime. The storyline was wondrously crafted and the writing flowed effortlessly enough to make me forget that I had to get up early the next day. "Despite my whole life being a tapestry of ten thousand lies, what I felt for Jaime, who I was when I’d pressed my hand to her knee, that was genuine. That was the person I was at my core, and she was the only one who could make me feel that way."The development in Kelli’s writing is remarkably noticeable from book to book and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next. From rockers with attitudes to photographers-slash-cover models who ends up on the cover of a book written by the quirky and, straight out scary, little writer lady, this author can write it all!
