Baby, Not tonight by Dre Sanders is the story of a disheartened and unlucky in love private executive chef named Milla, and her investment banking counterpart, Hunter. After the failure of a five-year relationship with her Parisian boyfriend, Milla's life implodes to a spectacular degree, forcing a move back to New York. Her sous-chef and friend Jake scrambles to help pull her professional life back to some semblance of order, while both he and a sultry minx named Irina offer motley relationship advice. When Hunter enters the equation for a dalliance intended to be anything but a relationship, the pair are catapulted into a madcap arc that is rife with enough satire to keep the pages turning, and just the right amount of heart to make it all endearing.I loved this book. Every character was fun and each had a very different, very authentic voice throughout the story. The humor is intelligent and lively, marked with punches of dialogue that more often than not had me in stitches. One of the best zingers was when Hunter and his brother Ford were having lunch with their mother, who matter-of-factly proclaims, "When your son passes thirty and has no marriage prospects, people begin to suspect you didn't potty train him properly." I admit that some of the comedy was laced with a couple too many clichéd lines, but they did little to detract from the overall story line and the punchiness of the dialogue. I'd be hard-pressed not to jump up and down, waving this book in my fists in front of anyone who is a bonafide fan of chic lit. This review was written for Readers' Favorite.

I was given a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. I really liked this book. The character of Milla was easy to identify with and I found myself rooting for her the entire book! I truly felt for her and everything she was going through. No one woman should ever feel the way she felt in the beginning of this book; it's an awful way to live your life.Hunter was so loveable and I adored him. I don't agree with his friendship with Ivy however, as she was constantly using him and taking advantage of his feelings for her. Not cool at all!!! He was such a good guy, always there for his family and friends, even when he didn't want to be. Not only is a good guy but he's good looking, had a good job and doesn't freak out over nothing. How can anyone not fall for such a well rounded character? Jake. Jake. Jake. I want a book about Jake! I loved his humor and definitely want to read more about him. We need more information about him, we only got glimpses of him in this book and I would love to know what makes his crazy mind tick. This book was a great read and made me go through so many emotions - anger, sadness, laughter, happiness; it had it all! Great story from start to finish. This review can also be found on my blog at The Book Potato

Baby, Not Tonight Baby, Not Tonight by Dre Sanders Milla McKool has been dumped by her French boyfriend after five years, losing her chance at love, her rising star status as an executive chef, and Paris. Sometimes your destiny is waiting. My Review: Baby Not Tonight has turned out to be one of my favorites. I spent a lot of time sympathizing, laughing and being heart broken for Milla. She was me, she's been some of you she's a woman that all of us can relate to at one point or another. Both in the broken stage and in the rebound and on the way to healing and the secondary doubt stage. I loved that her life was something that readers can relate to, her emotions, feelings and thought process are something that anyone in the real world can understand. And of course who can forget Hunters mom? I mean who hasn't had that dinner table moment where you're stuck having to explain your life to your family? Oh, I can't not mention the Captain Ron reference because I got a serious crack out of that. So thanks Dre. Everything in Baby Not Tonight was perfect. The self discovery, self acceptance, the confusion and the realization. It all came together and I enjoyed it from beginning to end. I should be in bed asleep but I had to finish this book. I got so wrapped up in the characters and could not put it down. This is a wonderful, funny love story than made me feel like I was reading a good friend's diary or sitting down and talking to her every day about life. The characters are real and delightful. I really enjoyed this new author and am looking forward to her next book. You can see a outline of the plot in the goodread blurb but you should really just pick it up and read it. I don't think you will be disappointed in any way.

Milla and Hunter are both trying to move on with their lives and when they meet, there is definite chemistry that was felt by this reader. With a cast of quirky, funky, and interesting characters, Dre Sanders has captured a place on my "must read" list.
