Kate's Kisses is a very heart warming , sweet and entertaining love story. The ending was a bit rushed but it was still a good quick read.

Kate's Kisses is another 5 stars book for me. This is the second book that I have read by Mary Manners and I want to read all of her books and if they are as good as the last two she will have a dedicated fan. The title is what the book is about in two ways (her real kisses and her delectable confections of cherries and rich sweet cream and chocolate). Kate and her three sisters own and operate a bakery called Sweet Treats. Logan Daniels is back in town to build a new library after leaving to follow his dream of building big buildings.Logan and Katie were engaged but then Kate's parents died and Kate's calls off the wedding to help her sisters. After coming back home Logan wants to start over with Kate but she isn't sure she wants to be hurt again. I really loved the ending. It has a sweet ending (yes my pun is intended). This book is the first of four in the Sweet Treats Bakery series. I am really looking forward to reading the other 3 in this series. This story was given too me by the author for an honest review.

I can see this is going to be a great start to a series a real sweet one. Kate's Kisses is book one in the Sweet Treats Bakery series. I know I started eating chocolate kisses when I was reading this one. Such a sweet novella well written by Mary. Love the characters. Kate Spencer seems to of lost everything, her parents to a accident and then her fiancee Logan Daniels left town to pursue his career. She felt since her parents have died it left younger sisters she needed to stay home and care for and not leave to go with Logan to pursue what they had planned on doing before the accident. So with the insurance money she bought a bakery. All the sisters helped run it. After 4 years Logan returns and he is not going to stop till he gets what he came back for..... Kate's Kisses!

Sweet & Entertaining!Kate Spencer is the second oldest of four daughters who have lost their parents in a tragic accident. Kate assumed responsibilities to help raise her youngest sister and assist in running family-owned "Sweet Treats Bakery," which resulted in a broken engagement just weeks before her wedding. After their broken engagement, brokenhearted Logan Daniels left for California in order to fulfill his dream of becoming a commercial builder. The necessity for construction of a new library in Mount Ridge, Tennessee brings Logan back home where he seeks the possibility of a second chance with Kate. Logan's surprise visit to the bakery places Kate in a panic. She has just finished making her specialty, a batch of "kisses" (cherries and rich sweet cream dipped in chocolate), and Logan can't resist. He purchases a few as he scrutinizes Kate's reaction to his presence. Kate's kisses are sweet, but her initial response to Logan isn't quite what he hoped for.Mary Manners has a gift of creating lovable and diverse characters who possess charisma and charm. Her visual descriptions capture the essence of the scenes and characters she creates. I read this book this afternoon, and found myself smiling as evnts unfolded. This is a delightful short story of loss, relationships, renewal and romance. "Kate's Kisses (Sweet Treats Bakery)" is entertaining, heartwarming and as sweet as her kisses!

3.5 starsVery cute story about high school & college sweethearts just weeks away from getting married. When Katie breaks their engagement. Both of her parents were killed in a tragic accident and she decides she needs to stay behind in the small town and help her older sister Mattie raise their two younger sisters. While Logan felt he needed to grow and get away from the small town. So he left and never looked back, until four years later when he comes to town to oversee the building of the town Library. I got the impression that his parents had a lot to do with getting them back together as they totally adored Katie. You learn a little about the other three sisters in the story. I would have rated much higher but there were unanswered questions for me. In the book it states that Logan did not want to come back and work on this project, that the company he worked for designed. Actually he was the architect that did the work. But he tells Katie he still loves her almost as soon as he gets to town. My complaint is this was never explained are we to guess.? Did he not realize he still loved her until he saw her again? Was he afraid she would reject him? I don't think that was it. Also you come to understand he has been very busy with the bakery her and her sisters run and helping to raise Tessa. But what has he been up to for four years? It is really ashamed because I enjoyed the story otherwise.

As far as romance books go it wasn't one of my favorites. I felt like it had a very "after-school-special" quality to it. Topping the list is the fact that everyone is polite and considerate to each other and the man asks permission to kiss the leading lady for the first time (which may not be all that strange except for the fact that they had been high school sweethearts and engaged to be married years before). It has been my experience that in life people don't always behave so kindly to everyone they come across... ALL of the time. Especially given the fact that her parents had just been killed and he decides he wants to break their engagement and go to California to get out of their little town. Had that happened to me I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have given him the civil reception that she did upon his return. It was filled with cliches- it even had the old "initals carved into the tree with a heart around it when they were young" thing going on. And the fact that she owns a bakery and he's always buying her chocolate "kisses" put me into sugar shock just reading about it. But if you're looking for a quick, chaste read (very quick and very chaste) then give it a try.

I read this in one session on my treadmill--super cute and short. Kate had her heartbroken and now Logan is back in town. Try as she might, she refuses to fall for him again, but it's proving to be harder than she thought. The book made me hungry. Kate and her sisters run a bakery and between the descriptions of all the yummy treats, especially the kisses (chocolate covered cream and cherries), and the descriptions of their hair--cinnamon colored, walnut colored, etc, I was starving. of course, it really didn't help that I was exercising at the time and not eating. :)I thought Logan was a real jerk at first, but when I got more into the story, I realized that they were both to blame and all that was in the past. He's a really sweet guy.Content: some Christian themes, but nothing at all preachy--just some mention of some Bible verses; a few kisses. Clean!

This was a very fast read, only taking me about 30 minutes to read it. I wish we had the ability to give half stars, because it's a bit better than a three star read, but not quite a four star read for me. Its set in a bakery owned by four sisters and focuses on the second sister, Kate. The plot was good, and moved along at a good pace. I was able to emotionally connect to the hero and heroine, but what I didn't like was the lack of mention of how their feelings towards each other changed or was re-awoken. *SPOILER ALERT* You're going along and she's nay saying the involvement, then all of a sudden, BOOM! He's proposed and she is accepting. *END ALERT* It was so sudden, it jarred me out of the story. I doubt I'll pay for the other books in the series, but will try to borrow them to finish the series, as I think they are worth reading.

Re-read November 2016Great 3rd read in Dewey's 24hr Read a Thon Apr 27th 2013novella review to follow,,,What a treat! The perfect length of read in a lightly handled style for this wee bit of romantic interlude.Kate has been jilted and we're made aware of that head on. What we don't know is 'the rest of the story'... Well drawn characters; realistic with unique quirks that I couldn't help liking. The handsome lead was definitely easy to picture! Mary Manners does a great job of pacing the story. Her introduction of some missing facts are perfectly timed to benefit the reader's with an ah hah understanding in this tale of love gone awry. THANK you, Mary! You definitely kept my interest rolling..{along with those delectable cherries rolling in chocolate}!

This was a beautiful second chance love story. Kate had to give up her dreams to help her sisters raise their youngest sister once their parents died. She didn’t realize she would be giving up the love of her life as well. Logan was hurt that Kate didn’t keep her promises to leave with him once they graduated college. He didn’t realize how selfish he was until he came back into town years later. Logan is here to supervise the building of the new library. Once back in his small hometown, he sees the love of his life and realizes he might have made a mistake. I love that he’s always there for her, fixing everything that goes wrong. They truly had a beautiful love.

Even taking into consideration the cheesy romance factor this was horrible. I didn't realize it was so short and it was just...he leaves 4 years ago and now is back and still loves her! So it is just hey I still love you! And she is all umm...I do too but....you will leave. Cue convenient job offer to keep him in town, then surprise girl and say hey marry me? And happily ever after. Lame lame lame. No real reason why she would take him back and they never really talked about what happened or anything. So lame even for a cheesy romance novel.

I bought the book because I have read quite some 'bakery' books over the last years ("Bread alone" or "The Union Street Bakery"), so I thought I give this one a try..Well, that was nearly too sweet for me.The story just floated along, no crisis (THAT happened before the book started) - the man who broke her heart just comes back and wins it again... without anything really happening.I don't think I will read the other sequels.

i saw other people say this was a quick read, and they weren't kidding! I finished this in less than an hour! It was a cute story; probably the best comparison would be the treats that are featured in the book - a sweet treat but definitely not a real meal. Clean reads warning: Nothing to be concerned about really. Brief description of a fairly chaste kiss and mention of provocative dress by one of the characters is mostly all there is.

I enjoyed this book so much that I have read it at least twice now. Anytime I am wanting a book to make me smile I read this book and the others in the series. The characters are engaging and the story draws you in. A great book to snuggle up with a cup of tea and get lost for a few hours.

Cute story. Very short--I actually think this could have been a better book if it had had more detail. There were so many elements that were simply glossed over and I think there was more story to tell. I especially found the romance aspect hard to believe because there just wasn't much to it.

This is a feel good book, quick read. Everyone has a boyfriend from high school that they cared about but is no longer with. This book explores that with a different ending. Loved the town and setting.

This was an okay short story. The ending was more than predictable. Kate annoyed me much of the story until she finally owed up to her responsibility in the failed relationship. I liked the characters overall.

Again, another free kindle read that disappointed me. This one was too short for me to get into the story; we never got to know the characters that well, and I wanted there to be more to the story. Stronger writing, stronger female character, etc. Too bad...

This was a good quick read. I picked it up while it was free on Amazon and read it when I had a little time to kill. It is a short story, but it was sweet. Plus, it was full of baked goods. What could be better?

It was a sweet (not intended ;-) ) story. The dialogue wasn't very real to me. and tended to be very proper and tense. not sure I'll continue the series, but this was a cute one.

It may have been a short read but it was very sweet and romantic. Kate and Logan were adorable together and I'm very curious about the other stories in the series. A job well done.
