Pepper's Roses sounds like Paper Roses sung by Jolina Magdangal in the 1990's. I'm sure everyone loved Jolina Magdangal that time with her jolog attaire and hair cute. Who wouldn't say nobody heard that small girl from a small town who became famous and now manage to try to keep her status as an actress (trying to be Lady Gaga, I heard that news)? Anyway, time passed by and things will change. First of all this review is not about Jolina Magdangal singing Paper Roses;song here>♪♩♫♬ Paper roses, paper rosesOh how real those roses seem to beBut they're only imitationLike your imitation love for me ♬♫♩♪Sorry I just hit the flat. Uhum! And one thing that I adore Jolina is because of her childish funny acts and funny dialogues. My family used to have this collection of VCDs (DVDs were not so popular in the 1990's yet) of her movies and musics. Well, like any of the family in the Philippines or in the world, we also trying to blend with what's in and not. Unfortunately Jolina is not trending anymore. Well, bye-bye Jolina hello new stars that will soon become shooting stars.Pepper's father and his best friend, Don Pepe, had a fight one day and everything change. They wanted to sell the mansion that was once planned and built for their family and Don Pepe's too. So Pepper is trying to fix the problem because she doesn't like to lose her memories from that beautiful mansion that stand before the forest and cool air of Batangas. So Pepper called Rei, son of Don Pepe, and asked him to meet with her. What happened? The son and daughter of the famous jewelers wanted to marry to fix their fathers' relationship.Rose Tan's narrative once again made readers wanted to jump from too much dose of funny dialogues and exaggerated scenes. Rose Tan never break her promise; she can still maintain the whole series with everything in its right place. Bud Brothers are still working and trying to maintain their business and with Tan's genius work of art, she made it possible to the reader to show and maintain to main characters in a novella or let me say, pocketbook. But too much dose of laughter is bad to your health. Wait, my favorite scene was when Pepper was grabbed by her father and her dress had been tore apart and she was naked in the public, hugging her father to cover her nipples. Haha! Stop. The best part is when Don Pepe and his father realized that friendship is the worst gift to lose.I'm still expecting a lot from Tan's works and I still have 2 books to read in the series. I want surprises but trying to maintain her emotion in the book, the same with the other books, might loosen the point of her being a good writer. I think she have to change something from her writing. Romance is not about laughing and love, Tan must choose another mood for her other books. Well, she's known of her witty funny works and I'm curious to read more. What can a fan do for his favorite author anyway?
